Attention Quincy Residents:

A tropical storm warning has been issued for parts of Florida (Tampa, Miami, Key West). In light of the impending tropical storm warning, we strongly advise all Quincy residents to take immediate steps to prepare for the storm if the conditions and the path of the storm changes.

   Safety Measures:

    • Stay Indoors: Avoid unnecessary travel during the storm. Stay indoors and away from windows.
    • Secure Outdoor Objects: Bring in or secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, and other items that could be blown away by strong winds.
    • Emergency Supplies: Ensure you have an emergency kit with essential items such as water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and a first-aid kit.
    • Power Outages: Be prepared for potential power outages. Charge electronic devices and have backup batteries available.
    • Flood Precautions: Avoid driving through flooded areas. Turn around, don’t drown. Know your evacuation routes and have a plan in case you need to leave your home.
    • Pet Safety: Ensure pets are safe indoors and have adequate food, water, and shelter.
    • Generator Safety: If using a generator, operate it outdoors and away from windows to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
